Dr. Stacey Benson

Dr. Stacey Benson is the CEO and co-founder of STAND. She is a licensed psychologist with over twenty-five years experience working with adolescents and adults who have sexually offended. Dr. Benson was born in North Dakota. While attending graduate school in Minneapolis, she worked in a residential treatment center for adolescent males who had sexually offended, and an adult outpatient sex offender treatment center. She completed her internship at a Federal Prison in Tallahassee Florida and then moved back to Fargo, North Dakota to complete her residency at a local community mental health center. Dr. Benson has taught Human Sexuality at NDSU for the past fifteen years. Dr. Benson worked for over 10 years with the ND Department of Human Services, as the chief psychologist at South East Human Service Center. Dr. Benson's area of specialty lies in the assessment and treatment of sexual offenders. To date, she has completed over a thousand risk assessments on sexual offenders and over two hundred Sexually Dangerous Individual evaluations in North Dakota. She has testified in state, federal and military court. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychology-Law Society, the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, the Minnesota Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, The Sex Offender Civil Commitment Program Network, and the North Dakota Psychological Association.
